Arts & Crafts of Mexico experimental WIP

I got this great book out of the library the other day, Arts & Crafts of Mexico by Chloe Sayer. As well as fabulous photos of Mexican textiles, pottery, jewellery and other beautiful objects, it contains a few line drawings that I thought would translate well into embroidery. I've been wanting to experiment with embroidering onto printed fabrics for a while, so I started doing this Mixtec spinner this evening. The image is scanned and the colours have come out a bit weird, but it's turning out quite interesting.

awesome! I love Mixtec imagery so much. I have a wonderful book called "the legend of lord eight deer" it's full of the most gorgeous drawings recreated from the codices. a few years ago I sculpted a paper weight from one of them for a teacher, but I've since always wanted to stitch them.
There's a great movie that you might like...I'll have to find out the name and get back to you. i can't remember at the moment.

Thanks MG, I'd love to hear more about it. Your paper weight sounds fabulous. I will also check into that book so thanks for recommending it :-)
